Floriani 3-D Embroidery by Fuwari technique

Say Goodbye to Chenille!!!

Fuwari is a new style of 3D embroidery - Fuwari, which means "soft and furry" in Japanese, describes a process that uses a conventional single-head or multi-head embroidery machine and special cutting machine to produce velour-like designs in which the threads stand upright rather than lay flat.

This process is a patented technique that starts with a design made with Fuwari CAD software then uses a special twisted bobbin thread and process to leave the stitches up to 5mm from the fabric.

This isn't "3D Puff Embroidery", we do that as well, but rather a fully three dimensional (3D) effect allowing the thread to stand up as if to attention.

Practical Applications

The Floriani 3-D Embroidery technique isn't for everyone, but it is a distinct and eye-catching effect that is definitely going to transform the industry! Uses for this can be:

  • Alternative for chenille
  • Textured designs and logos
  • Children's clothing and accessories
  • Holiday clothing and gifts
  • Use your imagination!

    Soft and Plushy
Another effect is a very soft look and feel when it is treated in a very simple manner.

The secret is simple, and is also warning if you want your designs to stay upright all the time. A single pass with a standard iron will determine the direction of the pattern and will not return to it's original 'attention'.

This does however create a wonderful texture that pictures just can't show. You have to see both styles to believe it!

Base Materials?
Basically no restriction, including leather and lace, except for the material which is damaged at temperature around 284 ºF (140 ºC)

Limitations:

As polyester thread is the standard thread used,
Rayon thread is good only when the embroidery is not going to be washed - the piles will lay after washing. This isn't to say that it can't be used, just that the effect will be different. Please contact us for details. The only other limitation is that Metallic threads cannot be used for this process.
